Pepe, Xabi Alonso and Fabio Coentrao cut their vacations short to join the 20-man Real Madrid squad that will travel to the United States this week to take part in the Guinness International Champions Cup 2014, the club said Monday.
The Blancos are in Group A of the competition, along with AS Roma, Manchester United and Inter Milan.
Group B comprises Manchester City, Liverpool, AC Milan and Olympiacos.
Real Madrid's first match is set for Saturday in Berkeley, California, against Inter.
Each club taking part in the pre-season exhibition will play three matches before the two group winners face each other in an Aug. 4 final in Miami.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti has chosen nine players from Real Madrid's second-division affiliate and development teams to make the trip to the United States.
Besides Alonso, Pepe and Coentrao, the squad includes: Diego Lopez, Jesus Fernandez, Fernando Pacheco, Daniel Carvajal, Alvaro Arbeloa, Nacho Fernandez, Diego Llorente, Derik, Gareth Bale, Isco, Marcos Llorente, Asier Illarramendi, Alvaro Medran, Lucas, Omar Mascarell, Raul de Tomas and Ruben Sorbrino.
