Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed the club are hoping to announce a new signing on Monday.
Napoli are third in Serie A, and speculation has linked them with a move for Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons.
The 24-year-old holding midfielder was first mentioned in connection with Napoli, as well as Arsenal, in the summer of 2013 but was happy to remain in France.
But De Laurentiis has declared that an as-yet-unnamed new arrival at the Stadio San Paolo will be confirmed on Monday.
He said: "We have been negotiating for about two months a contract with a player and his club, but definitive answers are set to arrive and it could become concrete on 6 January.
"It has to be considered whether the player wants or not to come to Napoli."
