Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of defender Manuel Friedrich.
The 34-year-old former Germany center-back was a free agent after leaving Bayer Leverkusen over the summer.
Friedrich, who won nine caps for his country between 2006 and 2008, has spent the last week training with the club and has now signed a deal until the end of the season.
Friedrich said: "I am very excited to play at Signal-Iduna-Park as a player of Borussia Dortmund, thus far I only played for visiting teams.
"To play for the home crowd, and not against them, must be a great feeling. I am very much looking forward to an incredible time in Black and Yellow."
Dortmund needed cover in defence after recently losing Mats Hummels, Marcel Schmelzer and Neven Subotic to injuries.
They host reigning champions and league leaders Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening.
