Runaway Campeonato Brasileiro leaders Cruzeiro suffered their third defeat in four matches but their closest rivals failed to take advantage.

Cruzeiro have slipped up against Sao Paulo and Atletico Mineiro in recent weeks, and their latest setback came at the hands of Coritiba, who claimed a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Carlinhos and Keirrison.

Carlinhos opened the scoring three minutes before the interval and although Dagoberto brought the league leaders level just after the hour mark from the penalty spot, Keirrison scored a 73rd-minute winner to lift his side four points clear of the relegation zone.

Gremio and Atletico Paranaense could have eaten into the deficit, but both teams' failure to win ensured Cruzeiro are nine points clear at the top.

Gremio did at least claim a point from a 2-2 draw at Internacional, who took a fourth-minute lead through Willians.

An own goal from Jackson and Eduardo Vargas' strike either side of half-time turned the game on its head although Internacional rescued a share of the spoils thanks to Andres D'Alessandro's penalty just after the hour mark.

Third-placed Paranaense's hopes of winning the league decreased following a comprehensive 3-0 loss at Goias.

First-half goals from Roni and Dudu Cearense put the home side in charge before Walter sealed victory in the final minute.

Botafogo missed the chance to move above Paranaense after squandering a two-goal lead in their 2-2 draw with Vasco da Gama.

Dankler and Lodeiro both struck within the first seven minutes, but struggling Vasco, who occupy the final relegation spot, hit back with second-half goals from Jomar and Pedro Ken to earn what could prove to be a vital point.

Nine-man Sao Paulo hung on to claim a 1-0 win at Bahia, who hover just above the drop zone.

Aloisio scored the only goal of the game in the 24th minute, but they were reduced to 10 men by Denilson's dismissal just after the half hour mark, while Maicon also saw red for the visitors 14 minutes from time.

Candido's 57th-minute strike helped Atletico Mineiro to a 1-0 win over Flamengo and Magalhaes Moises rescued a 1-1 draw for Portuguesa against Vitoria, who had taken the lead through Luis Caceres.
