Rookie Hyun-Jin Ryu outshined Cardinals' ace Adam Wainwright as the Dodgers beat St. Louis 3-0 in Los Angeles, clawing their way back into the National League Championship Series after falling behind two games to none.
Ryu allowed only three hits in seven complete innings, retiring 12 of the first 13 batters he faced. Wainwright also lasted through the seventh, but gave up two runs on six hits.
Adrian Gonzalez drove in the first run for the Dodgers with a double in the bottom of the fourth. Minutes later, another rookie standout, Cuban defector Yasiel Puig, hit a triple to score the second run.
The Dodgers' third run came in the eighth inning on a single from Hanley Ramirez, who got a standing ovation from the sellout crowd of 53,940 in recognition of the run and of the dedication he has shown by playing hurt.
Game Four in the best-of-seven series is set for Tuesday at Dodgers Stadium. Lance Lynn is scheduled to start for the Cardinals against the Dodgers' Ricky Nolasco. EFE
