FC Barcelona has tied a record for the best league start in the club's history with its latest victory under new coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino.
With his perfect 6-0 record in La Liga as manager of the Blaugrana, the Argentine has equaled the best club starts achieved under former coaches Johan Cruyff, Louis van Gaal, Josep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova, as well as Jim Bellamy in 1929.
Barça - currently in a tie for first place in the Spanish league with Atletico Madrid - defeated Real Sociedad 4-1 at Camp Nou on Tuesday for its sixth straight win to start the season.
Although Barcelona squeaked past Atletico Madrid last month to win Spain's Supercopa and also got its Champions League campaign off to a strong start with a 4-0 win over Ajax, Tuesday's performance at Camp Nou - the first 45 minutes in particular - was the best by the team under Martino's guidance.
Barça was back to dominating ball possession after raising eyebrows by failing to do so for the first time in several years in an otherwise uneventful 4-0 victory Saturday over Rayo Vallecano.
On Saturday, Barcelona will try to secure a club-record seventh straight victory to start the season when it takes on Almeria at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium. EFE
