Welsh international Gareth Bale was scratched from the lineup for the weekend La Liga match with Getafe after experiencing "fatigue in his left thigh muscle" during the warm-up, Real Madrid said Monday.
Bale, who joined the Blancos in the most expensive transfer in soccer history, had been set to make his home debut in Sunday's game at Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
With the Welshman sidelined, coach Carlo Ancelotti turned to Isco Alarcon, who scored a goal in the 4-1 Real Madrid victory.
"It's not an injury - he just didn't feel comfortable," Ancelotti told reporters after Sunday's match, referring to Bale's problem.
He expressed confidence that Bale would be fit to play in next weekend's capital derby against Atletico Madrid.
Bale came on as a substitute last Tuesday in Real Madrid's 6-1 demolition of Turkish club Galatasaray in the opening match of the 2013-2014 Champions League. EFE
