France shattered Spain's dream of a third consecutive European basketball title, winning Friday's semifinal 75-72 in overtime.

The Spanish squad led by 14 points at halftime in the contest at Stozice Arena in Ljubljana, with San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker accounting for all but six of France's points.

But the French outscored the Spaniards 23-15 in the third quarter to narrow the gap to six points, thanks to a more robust zone defense and to successive three-pointers by Gelabale and Parker, who finished the game with 32 points.

The teams ended regulation knotted at 65.

Fighting fatigue, Spain succumbed to Parker and the French attack in the five-minute overtime.

Sunday's final will pit France against Lithuania, which topped Croatia 77-62 in the other semifinal.

Spain and Croatia will square off for the bronze medal. EFE
