Three international stars of Australian football's A-League have withdrawn from an All Stars team which will play Manchester United in a friendly on July 20.

Italy's Alessandro Del Piero, former England striker Emile Heskey and Japan star Shinji Ono withdrew from the match on Friday, leaving the local team with little of its expected star power.

Several top local players have already pulled out of the A-League team in a blow to fans, some of whom have paid $189 for a ticket.

Football Federation Australia chief executive David Gallop said Del Piero, Heskey and Ono had withdrawn because the off-season All Star game arrived ''at a difficult period for them to manage a one-off appearance.''
