Spanish defenseman Daniel Carvajal, who was presented to the media Friday after returning to Real Madrid on a six-year deal, promised to do all he can to help the club reach its potential.
"I want to say thank you for all the support and confidence in me, during the 10 years I was in (the Blancos' youth system) and the one year I was away. I'm the happiest person in the world today and I'm going to do everything I can to try to make this club better," the 21-year-old said in a ceremony at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Florentino Perez, Real Madrid's president, said earlier that he felt a "special pride" in "welcoming Carvajal home."
Carvajal was selected as one of the top right backs in the German league in the 2012-13 season as a member of Bayer Leverkusen, but returned to Real Madrid after the Spanish powerhouse exercised a buy-back option. EFE
