Scoring four goals in a game for the first time in his career is just the lift Spain striker Fernando Torres needs.

However weak the Tahitians were as Confederations Cup opponents - going down 10-0 to the world champions on Thursday - Torres will take any chance he gets in a Spain shirt to prove his worth.

Torres went from top-scorer at the 2012 European Championship, including a goal in the victorious final against Italy, to Spain outcast.

As he struggled for form with Chelsea, there was a solitary Spain appearance after Euro 2012 - as an ineffective substitute against France in October - before being dropped from the squad completely until Vicente del Bosque recalled him for the Confederations Cup.

After being overlooked against Uruguay on Sunday, Torres started against Tahiti.
