German Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg snagged pole position for Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, the sixth race of the 2013 Formula One season.

The 27-year-old claimed his third consecutive pole - after starting first in Bahrain and Spain - by covering the 3.34-kilometer Circuit de Monaco in 1:13.876 in Saturday's qualifying.

His teammate, Britain's Lewis Hamilton, will join him on the front row after posting a time of 1:13.967, while German Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel will start third after recording a time of 1:13.980.

Vettel is the three-time Formula One defending champion and leads this year's drivers' standings with 89 points, four ahead of Finnish Lotus-Renault driver Kimi Raikkonen.

Spanish Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso will start on the third row after posting a sixth-best time of 1:14.824. EFE
