Spain's David Ferrer defeated countryman Tommy Robredo 6-3, 6-2 Saturday to reach the final of the Copa Claro tournament in Buenos Aires.

Ferrer is the defending champion of this event held at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, which despite the name is played on clay. He also reached the final in 2010.

In a battle of 30-year-olds, Ferrer got down an early break but then used his strong return game to take full control of the match against his 95th-ranked opponent.

In Sunday's final, Ferrer will take on the winner of the match pitting Spain's Nicolas Almagro against Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka. EFE
