Club America temporarily moved to the top of the Clausura after edging out previously unbeaten Tijuana 2-1 - despite having two men sent off.

Both teams had the opportunity to move to the top of the league with Tigres Monterrey in action on Sunday and although Club America took a 12th-minute lead through Osvaldo Martinez, they were reduced to nine men before half-time, with Rubens Sambueza and Aquivaldo Mosquera both seeing red.

Remarkably the visitors doubled their lead through Paul Aguilar eight minutes after the interval and although namesake Pablo halved the deficit, Club America held on to record their fifth win in their opening six matches.

Substitute Edson Rivera netted the winner in the 67th minute as Atlas edged past Atlante 2-1.

Jahir Barraza broke the deadlock in the fifth minute and his replacement Rivera settled matters midway through the second half - three minutes after Atlante had gotten back on level terms when Facundo Erpen put the ball into his own net.

Eduardo Herrera struck on the stroke of half-time as Unam Pumas claimed a 1-1 draw at 10-man Cruz Azul .

The hosts had taken the lead through Mariano Pavone's spot-kick in the 22nd minute, but they were pegged back before the interval and their hopes of finding a winner in the closing stages were hit by Gerardo Torrado's dismissal.

DaMarcus Beasley came off the bench to bag a late brace in Puebla 's 3-1 victory at San Luis .

Felix Borja had put the visitors ahead in the first minute and although Ricardo Jimenez (14) leveled, Beasley's introduction just before the hour turned the game on its head and he netted twice in the last 10 minutes to give Puebla all three points.

Substitute Amaury Escoto netted a late equalizer in Queretaro's 1-1 draw at home to bottom side Jaguares, who opened the scoring through Jorge Rodriguez, while Marquez Lugo's strike midway through the second half gave Guadalajara a 1-0 win over Monterrey.
