Russia's Maria Kirilenko won her first title of the year on Sunday, defeating Germany's Sabine Lisicki 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) in the final of the PTT Pattaya Open.

The 26-year-old Kirilenko, who is ranked 15th in the world, needed more than two and a half hours to defeat the hard-serving German.

Kirilenko, who had a 2-0 lifetime record against Lisicki going into Sunday's final, won the sixth title of her career.

The Russian, who was the No. 2 seed at the tournament, dropped the first set, but she bounced back and rolled in the second set against Lisicki, the No. 5 seed, who mounted a comeback and pushed Kirilenko to a tiebreaker in the third set.

Kirilenko ran away with the tiebreaker 7-1, using her experience to crush the German. EFE
