Tigres, coached by Brazil's Ricardo Ferretti, played well as the visiting team to beat Atlante 3-1 and take first place in Mexican soccer's Clausura 2013 tournament.
Argentines Damian Alvarez scored in the 10th minute and Lucas Lobos in the 53rd for the Tigres, which added its third tally with an own goal by Gerardo Venegas at minute 75, while for the locals the Chilean Esteban Paredes slammed one into the net in the 39th minute.
Only 10 minutes into the match, the visitors forged ahead with a goal by Alvarez on a pass from Jose Rivas, but the Atlante of Argentine trainer Ricardo La Volpe responded with a play by Paredes, who lobbed a shot over the goalkeeper in what was a clear failure of the defense.
In the second half the Tigres came on stronger, adding to the scoreboard goals by Lobos, with a right-leg penalty shot, and the own goal by Venegas, who tipped a shot by the Brazilian Danilinho into the net. EFE
