West Ham has signed Brazilian forward Wellington Paulista on a six-month loan from Cruzeiro.

The mid-table Premier League club has an option to sign the 29-year-old Wellington on a three-year deal at the end of the season.

Joe Cole and Marouane Chamakh have already bolstered West Ham's attacking options this month by joining from Liverpool and Arsenal , respectively.

Wellington can play as a winger or a striker.

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan described Wellington as a ''wild card'' signing, saying ''although he may not be that well known on these shores, he comes with an excellent track record in Brazil.''
