Bolivian midfielder Jose Luis Chavez will play for Mexico's Atlas soccer team starting with the Clausura 2013 tournament, the club said in a statement.
Chavez, who played for Bolivia's Blooming from 2004-2006 and 2009-2012, has been selected for the national team eight times.
The 26-year-old midfielder also played for Bolivia's Destroyers in 2007 and for Universitario de Sucre in 2008.
Chavez will join Atlas in the next few days and will be on loan to the team for a year.
He and Chilean Rodrigo Millar are being added as reinforcements for Atlas, which is coached by Mexican Tomas Boy.
Atlas and Queretaro are the leading candidates for relegation in the spring after taking last place in the past five championships.
Atlas was whipped by Morelia 4-0 on Sunday and coaches gave the players the day off on Christmas, with practice scheduled to resume on Wednesday. EFE
