Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, who has been undergoing treatment for leukemia, has been cleared by doctors to return to the sidelines after a three-month absence.

Interim head coach and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, himself a prostate cancer survivor, led the Colts to a playoff berth.

Arians said Pagano's return was the best Christmas present the Colts (10-5) could get.

The interim head coach set the goal for the Colts, who are led on the field by rookied quarterback Andrew Luck, of winning enough games so that Pagano would have a chance to rejoin them on the sidelines this season.

If things work out well this week, Pagano will probably resume calling the plays next Sunday against the AFC South champion Houston Texans, the Colts' last regular season game. EFE
