Quarterback Tim Tebow, a former Heisman Trophy winner who starred at the University of Florida, could end up signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2013 season, NFL sources said.

The 25-year-old Tebow's current team, the New York Jets, is talking with the Jaguars about releasing the quarterback so he can sign with Jacksoville.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan said he wanted Tebow, who grew up in Jacksonville, to play for his team.

The Jaguars' quarterback job will be up for grabs in 2013, giving Tebow an opportunity to compete to be the starter, team sources said on condition of anonymity.

Tebow chose in March to sign with the Jets instead of the Jaguars, but he has seen little action in New York and is now No. 3 on the QB depth chart. EFE
