The current coach of Brazilian rising star Neymar said Tuesday that when the time comes for the striker to seek his fortune in European soccer, he should sign with FC Barcelona.

"To see Neymar and (Lionel) Messi together at Barcelona would be the most beautiful thing in soccer," Santos club manager Muricy Ramalho told Xarxa Radio.

Messi, who last weekend set a new record for most goals in a calendar year with 86, is regarded by many as the best player in the world right now.

"Neymar is now in fourth or fifth place, but after the 2014 World Cup he will be at a very good level," the coach said of his star striker.

"Barcelona is very similar to us ... I believe that for Neymar, Barcelona is the best team to play with," Ramalho said.

But for the time being, the Santos coach said, Neymar needs to stay in Brazil.

"Neymar's path is Europe after the (2014) World Cup," Ramalho said.

He said that both Messi - the centerpiece of the Argentine national team - and Neymar need World Cup victories to join the ranks of all-time greats such as Pele and Maradona. EFE
