Medical tests confirmed that midfielder Cesc Fabregas has a fracture in his left leg and will be sidelined for four weeks, FC Barcelona said Monday.
The injury occurred Sunday during the first 15 minutes of the club's match in Seville with Real Betis.
Fabregas was replaced by Alexis Sanchez and the visitors went on to win 2-1, consolidating their grip on first place in La Liga, six points ahead of Atletico Madrid.
Both Barcelona tallies came from forward Lionel Messi, who set a new record for most goals in a calendar year with 86. EFE
