England's Lewis Hamilton stunned Red Bull drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber to grab pole position for McLaren at Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Hamilton, who secured the 25th pole of his career, finished first in Saturday's qualifying with a lap of 1:40:630 on the Yas Marina Circuit, well ahead of Webber.
Vettel, who leads the Drivers' Standings with 240 points after winning the past four races, will start third after completing his lap in 1:41:073.
The German braked suddenly at the end of qualifying, raising questions about his car. The driver said he was told to stop but that the problem was nothing "major."
Spain's Fernando Alonso, who is in second place in the standings with three races remaining in the season, had a poor qualifying lap in his upgraded Ferrari F2012 and will start Sunday's race in the seventh spot. EFE
