San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong and relievers Tim Lincecum and Sergio Romo combined to shut out the Detroit Tigers 2-0 to take a 3-0 lead in the World Series.
Saturday night's game was played at Detroit's Comerica Park after the Giants won the first two games in the series at AT&T Park in San Francisco by scores of 8-3 and 2-0, respectively.
The Giants have now managed two straight shutouts of the Tigers' vaunted line-up of sluggers.
Vogelsong worked 5 2/3 innings and Lincecum, who has been manager Bruce Bochy's secret weapon, put away the Tigers for 2 innings, with Romo sealing the win.
The Giants are the first team to pull off consecutive shutouts in a World Series in nearly 50 years. EFE
