Mexico's Monterrey crushed Panama's Chorrillo 6-0 in CONCACAF action in Panama City in the last round of Group 7 Champions Cup play.

The match played Tuesday at Rommel Fernandez National Stadium featured a Monterrey squad that mixed young players, such as Gerardo Moreno, and veterans like Jesus Corona, Chilean Humberto Suazo and Argentine Nery Cardoso.

Chorrillo, the Panamanian champion, put up a fight until minute 10, when its defenders gave the ball to Dario Carreño, who took it and rifled a shot past goalkeeper Carlos Valdes.

While Suazo controlled the center of the field and distributed the ball to his teammates, Corona shredded the right side of the Panamanian team's weak defense.

Monterrey played the last nine minutes with just 10 men because Edgar Solis was unable to recover from a leg injury, but Chorrillo was still unable to avoid the shutout. EFE
