Atletico Madrid won 4-2 at nine-man Real Betis to rise to second place in the Spanish league on Wednesday, with Radamel Falcao scoring a double to become the leading scorer.

Falcao struck 28 minutes in to cancel out Betis' opener. The hosts led again through Juanfran Torres' own goal just before halftime. But Falcao made it 2-2 from the penalty spot in the 48th with his seventh league goal after Damien Perquis had been shown a direct red card for fouling the Colombia striker.

Diego Castro netted from close range in the 55th, a minute after coming on, to secure undefeated Atletico fourth straight win.

Betis went down to nine men in the 78th after substitute Joel Campbell received his second booking. Raul Garcia capped the victory in injury time.
