The Brazilian men's volleyball squad clobbered Italy here Friday to advance to the final of the 2012 London Olympics.
Brazil, which won gold eight years ago in Athens and the silver at the 2008 Games in Beijing, prevailed over the Italians by three sets to none (25-21, 25-12, 25-21).
The South American team will face Russia in Sunday's final.
The Brazilian bench played a big role in Friday's resounding victory, as Wallace de Souza showed himself up to the task of filling in for the injured Leandro Vissotto.
After being routed in the second set, Italy showed some life in the third, taking a 9-6 lead before the Brazilians put the match away, delighting the thousands of their compatriots in the stands at Earls Court. EFE
