The midfielder, 33, has rejoined the Cherries after leaving for Portsmouth more than 10 years ago.

Groves believes he will bring a wealth of experience to his side's engine room when he completes a medical this week and signs a two-year deal.

He told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: "As a person he is very intelligent and a solid character.

"He brings an intelligence to the pitch in terms of his positional play, breaking up play and sensing danger. He will give us balance on the left-hand side and more of a physical presence in both boxes."
