Fiorentina President Andrea Della Valle says the Serie A club has signed midfielder Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool.

No details were given on the transfer fee or the length of contract.

Aquilani failed to settle at Liverpool after moving there from Roma in 2009 and had two loan spells - last season at AC Milan, and the previous campaign at Juventus.

The 28-year-old Italy international has spent the pre-season with Liverpool, but has flown back early from the club's pre-season tour of North America to complete his move.

Fiorentina also confirmed the signings of Borja Valero and Gonzalo Rodriguez from Villarreal.

The club has been busy this transfer market and Friday's deals bring its total number of new players signed in the offseason to 11.
