LONDON (AP) – Fulham says that U.S. international Clint Dempsey has missed a pre-season training camp in Switzerland due to a lack of match fitness.
Club spokeswoman Katie Holmes told The Associated Press that Dempsey, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool by the British media, had stayed in London ''to work on his fitness'' with the youth team. Holmes would not comment on the media reports.
Dempsey scored 23 goals in 46 games for Fulham last season, making the 29-year-old attacking midfielder his club's top scorer.
Fulham's new Premier League campaign begins on Aug. 18 at home to Norwich.
