JOHANNESBURG (AP) – One of Ivory Coast or Senegal won't make next year's African Cup after they were drawn to face each other in the final round of qualifiers.
The West African giants will meet over two legs in September and October to be among 15 qualifiers and host South Africa at the tournament early next year.
Libya will try and reach its second successive Cup of Nations finals against Algeria, while minnow Central African Republic will face Burkina Faso for a place in its first major tournament having surprisingly eliminated seven-time champion Egypt in the last round.
In other fixtures drawn on Thursday, it was defending African champion Zambia versus Uganda, 2010 World Cup quarterfinalist Ghana versus Malawi and four-time African Cup winner Cameroon against Cape Verde. Nigeria was drawn to play Liberia.
