Bundesliga club Augsburg has signed Estonia defender Ragnar Klavan from Dutch team AZ Alkmaar.

The Bavarian club says the 26-year-old Klavan has agreed to a two-year deal through to June 2014.

The clubs agreed not to reveal the transfer fee.

Klavan, who has 80 caps for Estonia, says he is looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga as it ''has a good image in Europe.''

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl says ''Klavan can play in a number of positions in defense, but his strength lies in central defense.''

Augsburg ensured Bundesliga survival in its first season of topflight football and has made several new signings in the offseason.
