New Zealand will play its recent nemesis New Caledonia when the third stage of Oceania regional qualifying for football's 2014 World Cup begins on September 7.

New Caledonia beat New Zealand 2-0 earlier this month in the semifinals of the Oceania Nations Cup, the second stage of qualifying in the Pacific-based Oceania Confederation. Tahiti then beat New Caledonia in the final to claim Oceania's place in the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil.

The four semifinalists from the Nations Cup progressed to the third stage of World Cup qualifying which involves home and away matches played between Sept. 7 and March 26. The winner will face the fourth-placed team from the CONCACAF confederation for a place in the World Cup finals in Brazil.
