Cristiano Ronaldo had it all - the deft touches, the blazing runs with the ball, the sulking, the petulance, and, in the end, that golden scoring touch.

The Portugal captain may have answered the critics who said he couldn't come through for the national team, that he couldn't duplicate on the international stage the club form that has made him one of the top players in the world.

The packed crowd at the National Stadium in Warsaw whistled when he touched the ball Thursday against the Czech Republic. And they whistled when he stepped up to take a free kick.

But it was Ronaldo who headed home the winner to put Portugal into the semifinals.
