PRAGUE (AP) – Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has won the Czech Republic's Golden Ball award for the best player of the 2011-12 season.
Cech topped the poll of sports journalists on Monday to win the award for the third consecutive year, and seventh time overall.
Cech has helped Chelsea win the FA Cup this season and reach Saturday's Champions League final against Bayern Munich. With Cech in goal, the Czech national team has qualified for the 2012 European Championship.
Arsenal midfielder and national team captain Tomas Rosicky placed second and Wolfsburg midfielder Petr Jiracek was third.
