Sweden winger Sebastian Larsson has undergone a hernia operation but still hopes to be fit for the European Championship.

Larsson's club Sunderland says he had the ''minor operation'' in Manchester earlier this week and will miss the final three matches of the Premier League season.

Larsson says ''this means the conditions to be prepared for Euro 2012 are much better than if I had to wait until the end of the season.''

He expects to have ''a couple of weeks for rehabilitation'' before being able to fully train with the Sweden team if he is selected for the squad.

Sweden's Euro 2012 opener is against co-host Ukraine on June 11.
