United States defender Timothy Chandler has decided to extend his contract with Nurnberg despite being courted by Europa League-bound Stuttgart.

Chandler signed a two-year extension that keeps him at the club until June 30, 2015.

Chandler said Wednesday he was ''honored'' to be sought by a club headed for a European competition next season, ''but for me it was clear that Nurnberg was my first choice.''

Chandler says he's grateful to Nurnberg, ''where I became a Bundesliga player".
