FIFA president Sepp Blatter says India has a good chance of hosting the Under-17 World Cup in 2017, which will enable it to play in a world-level soccer event for the first time.

Blatter said at a news conference Friday he was ''very positive'' about India winning the bid for the event but that the country would have to improve its infrastructure and also ''prepare its under-17 team to match expectations.''

Blatter, who called India a ''sleeping giant'' during his last visit in 2007, said ''the giant is now starting to wake up.''

India, which is at No. 158 in the FIFA rankings, is planning to bid for the Under-17 World Cup in 2017 and 2015 World Club Championship.
