BAGSHOT, England (AP) – FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke says he won't increase a $70 million payment to clubs who are demanding a bigger share of 2014 World Cup revenues.
Valcke says the 200-member European Club Association ''want more money for 2014 and we say 'no, we have a current agreement''' for $70 million.
The ECA wants FIFA to follow European soccer body UEFA, which has offered clubs a bigger slice of European Championship profits. Clubs worldwide had been promised $73 million for letting players go to Euro 2012.
The ECA announced this week that UEFA had ''substantially increased'' that amount as part of a new accord.
