MILAN (AP) – AC Milan went some way toward getting over its struggles against English teams by routing Arsenal 4-0 in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday.
Kevin-Prince Boateng opened the scoring in the 15th minute with an unstoppable volley before Robinho struck twice, either side of the halftime break. Zlatan Ibrahimovic sealed the result - and probably the series - with a penalty 11 minutes from time.
Milan attacked throughout and Arsenal barely had a sight of goal, with its best chance coming in the 66th minute, when Robin van Persie's shot was tipped around the post by Christian Abbiati.
Milan now looks set to qualify for the quarterfinals for the first time since it won the Champions League in 2007.
