Play was delayed in Everton's Barclays Premier League match against Manchester City at Goodison Park on Tuesday night after a spectator invaded the pitch and handcuffed himself to a goalpost.

The man emerged from the crowd with just under five minutes remaining until half-time and shackled himself to the frame of City keeper Joe Hart's goal.

After a hold-up which resulted in five minutes of first-half stoppage time, he was released and led away by police.

Police officers took about three minutes to uncut him from the post before the Premier League match could resume with the score still at 0-0.
