Celtic has signed Rabiu Ibrahim on a 3 1/2-year deal after the Nigerian midfielder impressed on trial at the Scottish club.

The 20-year-old Ibrahim will join on a free transfer, subject to the player being granted a work permit, after his contract at Dutch team PSV Eindhoven was terminated last month.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon said on Wednesday that Ibrahim ''is a playmaker, well balanced and a very intelligent footballer. We are really looking forward to him joining us.''

Celtic is top of the Scottish Premier League, two points ahead of Glasgow rival Rangers.
