MONTREAL (AP) – Canadian midfielder Patrice Bernier is returning to Montreal.
The Brossard, Quebec, native signed with the Impact of Major League Soccer on Monday after spending the last nine seasons in Europe.
Bernier played for the Impact from 2000-02 when the team was in the lower-level A-League.
The 32-year-old has played 47 games for the Canadian national team.
Bernier most recently played with first-division club Lyngby BK in the Danish Superliga.
He scored two goals in 12 games and was named the team's MVP for the first half of the season.
