Diver Yahel Castillo and karate champ Yadira Lira have been selected as the winners of Mexico's 2011 National Sports Award.

Castillo, who won two gold medals in last month's 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, and Lira, the world karate champion in Belgrade in 2010, will receive the prize in the amateur sports category, according to the official communique of the National Sports Commission.

In the professional sports category, the winner of the Sports Prize was baseball player Adrian Gonzalez, who won the Gold Glove and Silver Bat awards this season with the Boston Red Sox.

In the Paralympic sports category, the winner was marathon runner Maria de los Angeles Ortiz Hernandez.

Polish-Mexican race-walking trainer Jerzy Hausleber will receive the award for his "sports legacy" and Olympic medalist Daniel Aceves will be honored for his work in the development and sponsorship of sports.
