BERLIN (AP) – The German football federation (DFB) has suspended Werder Bremen's Marko Arnautovic for three league games for stamping on another player's ankle.
The DFB said Wednesday it had suspended the Austria striker after he was sent off in Werder's 3-2 loss to Hannover in their northern derby on Sunday.
Arnautovic earned a straight red card for stamping on Sergio Pinto's ankle in the 78th minute.
Arnautovic - who may also be fined by his club - will miss Werder's upcoming games against Borussia Dortmund, Augsburg and Mainz.
Bremen has 24 hours to appeal the decision.
