Austria forward Martin Harnik and defender Emanuel Pogatetz will miss next week's European Championship qualifying matches against Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan because of injuries.

Harnik has hurt a thigh muscle and Pogatetz is suffering from persistent back problems, the Austrian football federation said on Sunday.

Interim coach Willi Ruttensteiner has called up Hannover striker Daniel Royer as a replacement for Harnik and was considering adding a defender as well.

Austria, which can no longer advance from Group A, plays Azerbaijan in Baku on Friday before taking on Kazakhstan in Astana four days later.
