Manchester United stayed top of the Premier League on Saturday after struggling to beat Norwich 2-0 despite the return of strikers Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez.

United set a club record 19th straight league victory at Old Trafford and shares top place with rival Manchester City.

The two United strikers missed the midweek Champions League draw against Basel because of injury. However, it was Anderson who scored the 68th-minute opener as the Brazilian midfielder connected with Ryan Giggs' corner with a touch from Rooney.

Norwich rued a number of missed chances before Hernandez's replacement Danny Welbeck sealed the victory with three minutes left.
