LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) – The Court of Arbitration for Sport has rejected an appeal by former colleagues of Moucharafou Anjorin who want to remove him as president of Benin's football federation.
The CAS ruling says a group of 12 BFF executive committee members resigned to protest Anjorin's ''opaque'' leadership last December, and sought recognition as the real federation.
FIFA refused to recognize the group led by Attolou Victorien, and secretary general Jerome Valcke wrote outlining a roadmap to settle the dispute.
A CAS panel dismissed the appeal because it merely challenged Valcke's letter and not a FIFA decision.
The case was heard in July, days after Anjorin was jailed to investigate allegations he embezzled $650,000 of sponsorship income.
