Sotorios Ninis scored a 60th-minute winner to give Group F leader Greece a 1-0 victory over Israel in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday.

The Greeks controlled the pace of the game in a hard-fought encounter at Tel Aviv's Bloomfield Stadium and scored when Panathinaikos midfielder Ninis beat several defenders before beating the goalkeeper with a low, powerful strike.

The win extends Greece's lead at the top of Group F to four points, while damaging Israel's chances of qualifying for its first major international tournament since the 1970 World Cup.

Israel will travel to Croatia for its penultimate qualifying game on Tuesday in Zagreb. Israel is currently level on points with Croatia for second place in the group, but Croatia plays Malta later on Friday.
