The lingering effects of former Hurricane Irene have forced the Colombian national football team to delay flights to the U.S. ahead of friendly matches against Honduras and Jamaica.

Colombia is due to play Honduras in New Jersey on Saturday and faces Jamaica on Sept. 6 in Washington. But coach Leonel Alvarez, his coaching assistants and three players have been stuck in Bogota since Sunday, waiting for their flight to be rescheduled.

The Colombian Football Federation says foreign-based players in Europe, Mexico and Argentina have also had to postpone their arrivals to the United States due to the storm.
